Water Workers in Peru Urgently Request Solidarity

Posted in

On August 15th 2007, Peru was rocked by a massive earthquake, killing more than 500 people, leaving thousands homeless, and causing water shortages and electricity cuts. The villages of Ica, Pisco and Chincha were particularly devastated. FENTAP, the National Federation of Water Workers in Peru, have lost many brothers, sisters, families and friends. The Polaris Institute has worked with FENTAP on many water justice issues. They have issued an urgent call for international solidarity. An account has been set up in order to receive donations.
