Ontario: Nestlé Renewing Water Taking Permit

Posted April 11, 2007 in [Water]

Nestle has submitted an application for a renewal of their permit to take water in Aberfoyle, Ontario. They are requesting 3.6 million litres per day for 5 years.

A new organization has been formed called the Wellington Water Watchers. Their goal is to get an unprecedented number of comments requesting a denial of the application as well as to send a clear message to the provincial government that Ontarians are opposed to multinational corporations bottling our water for export and profit.

Please go to their website (www.wellingtonwaterwatchers.ca) where there is a link to the Environmental Registry and a sample comment. The comment period is over on May 2nd.
