Former Veolia executive running for Senate -take action

By patricia - Posted on 15 December 2006

This is Deidre Consolati, water and sewer organizer, in Lee Massachusetts. A former Veolia Corporation general manager is running for the state senate in towns around UMass, Amherst and the primary is a week away!
Is it not ironic that while we hold a forum and share ideas about saving local water from corporate abuse this candidate is stealing it as we speak? Should this Democratic contender win, he will control 48 towns and cities in Massachusetts, the largest of the senatorial districts. And his ties with the water world are still strong.

The candidate, Christopher J Hodgkins, lost a water and sewer battle in the town of Lee in 2004. A million dollars was spent on the Veolia campaign. Yet the corporation lost and the citizens won.

Isn't this a story we can be proud about?

But how proud can we be if in this short week we do not rally to keep him out of office? We will have lost all the gains we made in western Massachusetts.

There has not been a SINGLE story about this former Veolia spokesman and his attempts to sell privatization in any newspapers. My voice has largely gone unheard and I am turning to you. Can you help? These efforts will take only a few minutes of your time:
